Jancis Robinson to taste the 2009 vintage…now bottled
Jancis Robinson tasted the 2009 vintage (now bottled) from several small cap fine wines during the Unions Des Grands Crus event taking place at the sumptuous Royal Opera House on Covent Garden on 18th October.
J. Robinson seemed to be pleased with the selection of left bank fine wines she tasted during the event. She declared “I suspect many of those who saw the wines en primeur wondered whether they might not look a bit too soft and sweet as they aged. This may eventually happen but last week I thought that virtually all the reds I tasted - all on the left bank admittedly - were looking well balanced and had sufficient structure and refreshment factor for at least mid-term development.”
J. Robinson who attended the event with Julia Harding, a renowned wine critic, also “found that some of the right-bank wines she tasted, on the other hand, did lack freshness and elegance.”
When looking at Jancis Robinson’ new scores for the 2009 vintage of investment-grade wines, we can see that on the overall result is rather pleasing (see table below) as they at least hold their initial score.
